A recently leaked Nexa document tells us that the soon-to-be-launched Maruti Suzuki Ciaz facelift will be a lot safer than the outgoing model. According to the document, the facelifted Ciaz will come with a speed alert system and seatbelt reminder for both driver and front passenger. Maruti Suzuki India will be offering these safety features as standard offering across the variant list that is the Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha. The Ciaz facelift is slated to be launched in India on August 20 and bookings for the car have already commenced for a token of ₹ 11,000.
The speed alert system prompts the driver to maintain a safe driving speed and keep the vehicle within the city or highway speed limits. The system is designed to alert the driver with 2 beeps every 60 seconds if the driver exceeds 80 kmph, on the other hand, the system will make a continuous beeping sound if the speed exceeds 120 kmph. The addition of seat belt reminder, for both driver and front passenger, is also a welcome addition.
The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz facelift will come with a bunch of exterior and interior cosmetic updates along with a host of new and updated features. The exteriors updated will include revised LED Projector headlamp with LED daytime running lights, new LED rear combination taillamps, and a set of new machined alloy wheels. The cabin, on the other hand, is said to feature an updated dashboard and host of convenience features that make it a bit more upmarket. Other safety features like dual airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child seat anchorage are also expected to be offers as part of standard offerings.

The biggest change on the facelifted Ciaz will be the new new 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that will replace the outgoing 1.4-litre motor. The former will also come with an improved SHVS (smart hybrid vehicle system) technology and will churn out about 103 bhp and 130 Nm of peak torque. The diesel version will get the tried and tested 1.3-litre DDIS motor that produces 89 bhp and 200 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 5-speed AMT system.
